Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 16 oz green beans
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chili garlic sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, to garnish
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds

Directions

  1. Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. Dry them well
  2. Heat a large skillet on medium heat, then add in the olive oil. Add in the green beans with a pinch of salt and cook them for about 8-10 minutes on medium heat, stirring every couple of minutes. They should begin to brown.
  3. While they cook, prepare the sauce by whisking together the coconut aminos, maple syrup, sesame oil, chili garlic sauce, red pepper flakes, garlic and ginger.
  4. After about 10 minutes, add the sauce into the pan and toss together. Finish cooking the green beans in the sauce on medium/low heat for another 10-12 minutes. Adjust salt to your liking.
  5. Mix in the slivered almonds, scallions and sesame seeds and serve warm with your favorite entree.
